Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Contour ("Contour," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect information when you use the Contour mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Contour is a location-based game intended only for users who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and located in the United States. By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Contour is not directed to anyone under eighteen (18) years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under eighteen, we will delete it.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines & Fair Play Policy.
2. Who Operates Contour
Contour is operated by Atlas Loop LLC, a California limited liability company (California Entity No. B20260284384) ("Atlas Loop," "we," "us," or "our").
If operation of the Service is transferred to another entity in the future, references to "Contour," "Atlas Loop," "we," "us," and "our" shall include that successor entity.

When you create an account, we may collect:
- Email address
- Authentication provider identifier
- Firebase Authentication identifier
- Username
- Account creation date
- Account status
Authentication may occur through Sign in with Apple, Google authentication, email authentication, or other authentication methods we may support.
Eligibility Information
Contour is restricted to users eighteen (18) years of age or older. We may collect and store age eligibility confirmations and eligibility verification status. We do not currently store dates of birth unless required by future legal or operational requirements.
Location Information
Because location is central to gameplay, we collect precise location information. This may include:
- GPS coordinates
- Device location services data
- Route history
- Captured territory data
- Loop completion information
- Landmark interactions
Background Location Information
During active gameplay sessions, location information may continue to be collected while your device screen is locked, the application is running in the background, or the application is not visible in the foreground. Background location collection allows route tracing and territory calculations to continue during active play sessions.
Derived Location Information
We may derive approximate geographic information from precise location information, including ZIP code, county, state, region, and local leaderboard region. Derived location information may be used for regional leaderboards, gameplay features, analytics, and fraud prevention.
Gameplay Information
We collect gameplay information including territory ownership, territory history, scores, rankings, challenges, achievements, referral activity, Boost Point balances, challenge outcomes, leaderboard placement, and landmark visits.
Device Information
We may collect device type, operating system, device model, application version, language settings, device identifiers, and performance metrics.
Analytics and Diagnostics
We may collect crash reports, error logs, diagnostic information, usage statistics, session information, and feature interaction data.
Push Notification Information
We may collect APNs device tokens, Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens, and notification preferences.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to operate the Service; authenticate users; attribute territory ownership; calculate scores and rankings; process challenges and referrals; award achievements and rewards; operate leaderboards; detect cheating, prevent fraud, and investigate abuse; improve reliability, gameplay, and performance; communicate with users and send notifications; comply with legal obligations; and protect users and the Service.
5. Location Data
Location data is necessary for core gameplay functionality. Without location permissions, territory capture, route tracing, and leaderboard placement may not function, and certain gameplay features may be unavailable.
Real-Time Location Visibility
Contour does not display your real-time location to other players. Other users may see territory ownership, scores, rankings, achievements, and challenge results. Other users do not receive access to your live location.
Sensitive Personal Information
Under California law, precise geolocation is considered "sensitive personal information." We use precise location only for the gameplay, security, and anti-cheat purposes described in this Policy, and not to infer characteristics about you. California residents may request that we limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, as described in the California Privacy Rights section below.
6. Anti-Cheat and Security Processing
To protect the integrity of gameplay, we may process information for anti-cheat purposes. This may include location consistency analysis, movement pattern analysis, device integrity indicators, account activity analysis, and gameplay behavior analysis. We may use automated systems and manual review.
Information may be used to detect GPS spoofing, bots, automation, and exploit abuse; detect account sharing; and investigate suspicious activity.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may share information with service providers that help us operate the Service.
Google and Firebase
We may use Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Google Cloud.
Apple
We may use Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification Service, and App Store services.
Mapping Providers
We may use OpenStreetMap, CARTO, Nominatim, and other mapping providers. Location information may be transmitted to these services to support gameplay functionality and geographic calculations.
Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information when necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect users, protect the Service, protect rights or property, or investigate fraud or abuse.
8. Future Purchases and Payment Processing
Contour may offer future purchases, subscriptions, virtual items, Boost Points, promotional items, or premium features. If purchases become available, payment processing may be handled by Apple, Google, payment processors, and financial service providers. Additional payment-related disclosures may be added before monetization launches.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, maintain accounts, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, protect security, and maintain backups. Account information is generally retained until account deletion.
Certain information may be retained after deletion where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, and backup systems.
10. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time directly in the app, in Settings. You may also contact support to request deletion. Deleting your account removes your account and associated data from active systems. In-app deletion takes effect promptly; any deletion request made through support is processed within a reasonable period.
Deletion may not immediately remove backup records, security records, fraud-prevention records, or legally required records.
11. California Privacy Rights
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These rights may include the right to know, access, correct, and delete; the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; the right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information; and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
Contour does not sell personal information. Contour does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
To protect your information, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification. Requests may be submitted to contoursupport@gmail.com.
12. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. These may include encrypted communications, access controls, authentication systems, server-side validation, and database security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. United States Operation
Contour is offered to and intended for users located in the United States. The Service may not be appropriate for use in jurisdictions with different privacy requirements. By using the Service, you acknowledge that information may be processed and stored in the United States.
